Facilities and Things to Do
The Campsite
The campsite is open from April through to the end of October. There are fifty eight electric hook ups points, some hard standing and some on grass. For tents and those of you who don’t require electric hook up you don’t need to book. We can get very busy in mid-July and August when it is 1st come 1st served. You only need to book if you require electric hook up. Site facilities include toilet and shower blocks. There is also waste disposal, dishwashing and laundry facilities.
For those in tents, a camper’s kitchen is available.
Pets kept under control are welcome, and are free.
Restaurant and bar
Adjacent to the Campsite is Sango Sands Oasis Restaurant and Bar. Here you can find great food, a full bar with a range of Scottish whisky, a local welcome and a stunning view of the sea.
Out of Season
Out of season (mid November to mid March approx.) you may stay here for a charge £9 with use of water fill up station and an electric hook up. The toilets are closed but the public toilets are available beside the local mini supermarket.
Whales, Seals and Dolphins
Whales, seals and even the occasional Bottlenose Dolphin may cruise by as you take in the impressive views that keep some of our visitors coming back every year.
Local Area
There is much to do and see in this most northerly part of the highlands including visiting impressive and dramatic features of the surrounding coastline such as Smoo Cave, Faraid Head, Cape Wrath and Loch Eriboll.
The impressive rock formations, beaches and caves are carved out by the unique local geology as this is part of an amazing Geo Park.
A short walk takes you to Balnakeil that hosts interesting architecture, an ancient Church from 722, a hillside links Golf Course with amazing views, a stunning long sandy beach and an unique craft village – much to do and see indeed!
